Spanish Dual Language Program
In our Spanish Dual Language Program, students spend half of their day learning content in Spanish, aiming for fluency in both English and Spanish by the end of 5th grade. To facilitate this goal, our teaching strategy includes several best practices:
- Language Immersion: Teachers remain in the target language throughout lessons, using visuals, hands-on activities, gestures, and cross-linguistic strategies to aid understanding.
- Collaborative Instruction: Partner teachers work together to complement each other’s content, carefully integrating key academic vocabulary from both languages to create a cohesive educational experience.
- Regular Language Practice: Students have daily opportunities to practice reading, speaking, listening, and writing in both English and Spanish, promoting balanced bilingual development.
English Monolingual Program
Love Elementary currently offers a monolingual English program for students from PK3 through 2nd grade and plans to expand to 3rd grade in the 2024-2025 academic year. This program is designed to add a new grade level each year, with an extension to include 2nd grade already in place for the 2024-2025 school year.
